Leaha

14 years ago today my bestfriend, Kim, gave birth to her first child and my only godchild. She named her Leaha Michelle and I loved her like my own child. I was there when she made her appearance in the world on a very cold and blustery February morning. I was in awe for many hours after her birth. That was the first miracle I had ever witnessed.

Kim and I drifted apart as friends sometimes do when they grow up and take different paths. It was like losing a sister. Six years later Kim was involved in a car accident and died on September 2, 2007.

Today her daughter is 14, about the age when Kim and I became bestfriends. Leaha is special to me, even more so now that Kim is gone. I pray that Leaha knows what a beautiful and wonderful young lady she is. Happy birthday Leaha! I love you.
