Have you ever wondered why God repeatedly reminded the Israelites that He was the one who brought them out of slavery in Egypt, parted the Red Sea and delivered them from Pharaoh? When we are facing a big challenge or an impossible task God reminds us of all the times before that He has delivered us to silence our fears because He knows that we are but dust and prone to worry. At least that is the case with me. I am facing a tremendous "challenge" and this morning God reminded me of another time that He delivered me from something that held me in bondage.
It was May 10, 2000, and I was struggling with something that had held me in bondage for several years. I had started attending church and I was ready to give God control of my life but I had no control over this aspect of it. So on May 10 I went out with two friends with the best of intentions of drinking only a virgin pina colada. Two regular pina coladas later I was in the ladies room when I was struck blind and I experienced pain like I had never experienced before. So that night on the floor of the ladies room, I told God I got His message. From that day forward, even the smell of alcohol turned my stomach. I have not drank alcohol again since that night 12 years ago. I refer to this episode as my Paul-on-the-road-to-Damascus experience.
Not only did God deliver me from bondage, He rewarded my obedience when one year to the day that I stopped drinking, I met my future husband. God reminded me that if He can deliver me from bondage to alcohol, then He can deliver me from what I am facing now.
This is a great post & a great testimony of how God is real in your life :) Glad to see you've started this blog!
